Conservative Blogger's Guide to Being a Racist

This happened a couple of months ago, but I just couldn’t leave this unmentioned.

Back in April, John Derbyshire, who at the time wrote for the National Review, wrote an article at Tiki’s Magazine outlining the talk he had with his kids about black people.  In part of this talk, which he believes every “nonblack American” has (or should have) with their kids, he provides white people with a guide to avoiding the danger of black people. Here are some of the worst parts of his guide to being a racist:

• Avoid concentrations of blacks not all known to you personally.
• If planning a trip to a beach or amusement park at some date, find out whether it is likely to be swamped with blacks on that date.
• If you are at some public event at which the number of blacks suddenly swells, leave as quickly as possible.
• Before voting for a black politician, scrutinize his/her character much more carefully than you would a white. (I bet he’s watching Fox News at this very moment!)
• If accosted by a strange black in the street, smile and say something polite but keep moving.

He provides us with plenty of other “common sense” precautions in his guide.  Oh, and be assured that the rest of his talk also contains plenty of other ignorant racist little nuggets…like this one:

The mean intelligence of blacks is much lower than for whites. The least intelligent ten percent of whites have IQs below 81; forty percent of blacks have IQs that low. Only one black in six is more intelligent than the average white; five whites out of six are more intelligent than the average black. These differences show in every test of general cognitive ability that anyone, of any race or nationality, has yet been able to devise. They are reflected in countless everyday situations. “Life is an IQ test.”

He of course provides plenty of (biased) references to back up all his bullshit claims.
